Lignol Innovations, a US subsidiary of Canadian cellulosic ethanol and biochemical joint product company Lignol Energy, announced last week that the company is accelerating the process of industrial production of cellulosic ethanol from sawdust. The U.S. Department of Energy’s 30 million U.S. dollar funded project is currently progressing smoothly. The company is currently developing a cellulosic ethanol commercial verification device in Colorado.

According to the funding plan for the cellulosic ethanol and biofuel projects, the US Department of Energy will invest 200 million U.S. dollars in the next five years to support the development of small-scale cellulose biorefinery in the United States. In order to accelerate the industrialization of the cellulosic ethanol project, Lignol Innovation and Suncor Energy Products signed a project cooperation development agreement. The latter has considerable strength in the use of biomass, which is mainly the use of biomass (cork) resources in the forest area of British Columbia, Canada, for the production of lignin-based bioproducts and ethanol and other extracts. Lignol Innovations recently established the Cellulose Ethanol Development Center, which consists of three components: a medium-sized device, an enzyme development laboratory, and an engineering department.

Lignol Innovation has developed expertise in the production of lignin from various raw materials in recent years. In recent years, the company has also successfully developed a process for producing ethanol using wood chips as raw materials. The theoretical yield of ethanol exceeds 90%.
