Experiments show that compared with traditional catheters, medical catheters made with this new material can reduce the number of bacteria on the surface by 96.7%; animal experiments also show that the insertion of such catheters into experimental mice can greatly reduce the risk of bacterial infection.

Prof. Morgan Alexander, who participated in the study, said that this new material has significant effects on various bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, and E. coli.
